our story

i b u y l o c a l is on a mission to form real connections between local businesses and the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. As one of the oldest cities in North America, St. John’s is ripe with culture and tradition. With the i b u y l o c a l  St. John’s Summer Festival, we will combine people, place, and business in a way that will create a lasting and unforgettable experience for our city.

i b u y l o c a l originated as the brain child between two entrepreneurs running two completely different businesses. Abu Sayed, owner of Wildhood Clothing and Jon Butler, owner of LunchIn. The two came together with a shared vision to find a meaningful way to bring people together and connect us all to a true sense of place. The pair want to help us all see that big dreams are not accomplished alone.

At Wildhood…

We believe in the strength of difference. We understand the importance of bringing people together to build a sense of community where we will lift each other up, regardless of our differences. With so much negativity going around, we want to prove that as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, that’s not us.

At LunchIn…

We focus on delivering healthy moments to busy lives. We stand on a foundation of delivering support for nutritional health, social health, mental health, and environmental health. Through moments. We believe moments are better shared, together. This is at the heart of everything we do, and is what drives us forward to create better experiences for all to share.

Together...

Both Sayed and Jon believe that Newfoundland and Labrador can be the global center for showing others how a small community can come together to accomplish big things. The  i b u y l o c a l  campaign has been created to spread this message. Starting with a t-shirt as a canvas to create awareness about the importance of buying local and with the help of local people, businesses, and partners, we plan to show the world what Newfoundlanders and Labradorians can do. Together.

You can show us your support by backing us on ImpackHub and joining the tribe at www.ibuylocaltribe.ca, where you can pre-order additional shirts, today! When your shirt arrives, wear it around the city, tell everyone, and let’s start a movement.  Let’s grow our city. Let’s grow our province. Let’s do it… together.
